Rumor has it that Sony and Universal are competing for the rights to a Metroid movie

Nintendo is said to be working on a feature film based on the Metroid franchise as the company continues expanding into the film industry. Following the massive success of the Mario movies, attention is now shifting toward a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, scheduled for May 2027.

According to insider V SCOOPER, a Metroid movie project does exist. He claims that several major studios, including Sony and Universal, are currently competing to secure the rights for the adaptation. The project is reportedly planned as a live-action film, although this could still change.

It is also reported that Nintendo and Illumination have been trying to develop a Pikmin adaptation for several years, but the project is facing script-related challenges.

Sources indicate that Nintendo is actively pitching the Metroid movie to studios, with both Sony and Universal showing strong interest in a live-action version. However, no final decisions have been made yet.

For now, all of this information remains at the rumor stage, but given Nintendo’s push to expand its franchises into film, such a project seems вполне plausible.

As a Reminder, EA Sports announces UFC 6 — release scheduled for summer.
