Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer has officially ended his playing career, which lasted almost 20 years and spanned CS 1.6, CS:GO, and CS2. The 36-year-old Dane is starting a new chapter by taking over as the head coach of HEROIC.
On the HLTV Confirmed podcast, Snappi explained that his individual statistics started to decline after the initial CS2 tournaments. The inability to demonstrate his usual level of play caused frustration and directly affected the quality of his in-game calling.
Over the last six months, the player was under the heaviest pressure of his entire career, realizing he had to either improve his results immediately or step down. The situation was significantly worsened by an unprecedented wave of hate on social media, which the Dane described with the classic phrase: "You either die a hero or become a villain."
The decision to replace him was mutual. Snappi had previously discussed with Xizt the need for more firepower in his position, as the team lacked star players. The final decision was made by the organization itself, without the involvement of the active roster.
Initially, the Dane planned to wait for the post-Major transfer window, but he immediately accepted HEROIC's offer. He was drawn to the prospect of working with a young roster that has great potential for growth.
In his new role, Snappi relies on his immense experience playing across three versions of Counter-Strike and his deep understanding of different team dynamics. However, he emphasizes the need to remain humble: the new coach plans to read relevant literature and study psychology to adapt to his new responsibilities as effectively as possible.
