Sony Could Miss a GOTY Nomination for the First Time in 12 Years

Sony is at risk of missing out on a nomination in The Game Awards’ main Game of the Year category for the first time since 2014.

The company’s biggest hope was Marvel’s Wolverine, but Insomniac Games’ title currently holds a score of 78 on Metacritic and 79 on OpenCritic. Critics have been far from unanimous in their reception of the game.

For comparison, Sony games have received 14 GOTY nominations over the past 11 years and won the award three times:

Sony’s main hope now rests on Saros from Housemarque. The game currently has a Metacritic score of 87, although it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to secure a nomination.

If Wolverine fails to make the list of nominees, Sony could be left without a GOTY contender for the first time in 12 years.

As a Reminder, The 2026 Rocket League World Championship Starts Tomorrow: The Main Event of the 15th Season.
