Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games — the studio behind the remake of Demon's Souls and Uncharted trilogy remasters.

Sony announced the closure of Bluepoint Games following a “recent business review” amid broader cost-cutting across the gaming industry. The studio will officially cease operations in March 2026, with around 70 employees set to lose their jobs.

In recent years, the team had been working on an ambitious live-service project set in the God of War universe. However, the project was canceled in January 2025. Over the past year, the studio pitched new concepts, but none received the green light from Sony.

Bluepoint Games was acquired by Sony in 2021 after the major success of Demon’s Souls. The studio was widely regarded as the “gold standard” for remakes and remasters, having delivered updated versions of Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

For reference, Michelin recently became a partner of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).
