Sony appears to be preparing a cashback program for the PlayStation Store. Rumors about a potential rewards system emerged earlier in 2026, but users have now started finding what could be the first practical evidence of its existence.
Players on the US PlayStation Store have noticed limited time offers that provide PSN Wallet funds after purchasing certain games. Sony has not made any official announcement about the new system so far.
Back in February 2026, users noticed a new “Wallet Credits” section. At the time, it was unclear whether it was related to installment payments for games or a potential cashback program. The latter now appears to be the more likely explanation.
One gamer reported purchasing The Blood of Dawnwalker on PS5 and receiving $10 back. Other users have reported similar rewards after buying Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Star Wars Zero Company.
It is currently unclear whether Sony is testing the cashback system exclusively in the US or whether similar offers are available in other regions. The exact rules for receiving the money are also unknown. The rewards could depend on specific games or be part of hidden, time limited promotions.
Sony may officially reveal more details soon if the testing is connected to a broader loyalty program. The Japanese company has also recently patented another interesting technology that would allow players to pay for games by bringing a smartphone close to a gamepad.
As a Reminder, Sony patents technology that could turn DualSense into a payment device.
