Starfield Could Get Rid of One of Its Biggest Issues Thanks to a New Mod

A new modification called Seamless Landings aims to transform planetary exploration in Starfield by introducing fully seamless landings on planets and moons, similar to No Man’s Sky. Modder Frederik Wessberg Is A Nerd has showcased the project in a two-minute YouTube video.

One of Starfield’s most noticeable shortcomings is its reliance on loading screens. They interrupt the experience when entering planets, moving between surface regions, and transitioning between locations. The upcoming mod aims to make space exploration feel much more immersive and uninterrupted.

According to the creator’s description, Seamless Landings will feature volumetric clouds, dynamic weather, thunderstorms and lightning, polar auroras, atmospheric glow, physically based atmospheric scattering, and city lights visible from space. It will also use the game’s own data to recreate biomes, oceans, snowcaps, and large-scale terrain and cloud shadows.

Atmospheric re-entry is another major focus. Ships will feature realistic heat effects on their hulls, with a layer of ash left behind after re-entry. The mod will also introduce more detailed live cockpit monitoring and additional ship HUD elements.

The creator has been developing the project for approximately six months. Although it is still a work in progress, its release is expected in the near future. Seamless Landings will be available for free on Nexus Mods.
