April 7 will be a major milestone for Starfield. The game is set to receive its biggest free update yet called Free Lanes alongside a new story DLC Terran Armada, while also officially launching on PlayStation 5.
Free Lanes is described as the most expansive update in the game’s history, overhauling nearly every core system. It brings major improvements to space travel, late game progression, gear and ship customization, outpost building and many other gameplay elements. Players will gain the ability to freely travel between planets, encounter new dynamic events in space and dive deeper into customization systems thanks to the new X Tech resource.
Among the new features:
- New gear quality tiers
- Reworked legendary effects
- The ability to optimize your ship during flight
- An updated outpost system with shared containers and a database
- New quests
- Anchorpoint station
- The Moon Jumper vehicle
- An outpost pet
Starborn abilities and New Game Plus have also been expanded. Players can now upgrade abilities without restarting, while a new device allows them to carry gear into future playthroughs.
Alongside the free update, the paid Terran Armada DLC will add a brand new storyline with replayable content, a new faction and a major threat across the Settled Systems. Players will meet a new companion robot named Delta and take part in Incursions, dynamic events scattered across space that offer valuable rewards.
The expansion will also bring new ships, modules, gear with a more grounded military style, additional crew members and pre built outpost structures.
«April 7 will be a truly landmark day for Starfield. The most expansive free update in the game’s history and a new story DLC will launch on the same day», — the developers said.
