Bethesda boss Todd Howard has confirmed that Starfield’s next major update will not be a sweeping 2.0-style overhaul. According to him, the team is actively developing new content and is nearly ready to properly reveal what’s coming.
Todd Howard said in an interview with Kinda Funny, a transcript of which was published by Kotaku:
«Obviously, we’ve been working on a lot of content for Starfield. I can tell everyone that we’ll be talking about the new content very soon. We’re moving into a phase where we’re ready to openly talk about Starfield and properly show what exactly is coming to the game. We’ve done a lot of work that we really like».
He added that the upcoming updates will change the game more on a meta level:
«I’ve seen some of this content, so to set expectations properly, I’ll put it this way: if you love Starfield, we think you’re going to love this. These are updates and changes that affect the game not in an isolated way, but more on a meta level, using outer space and certain mechanics in ways we haven’t before».
At the same time, Howard candidly noted that the update is unlikely to change the opinion of those who didn’t enjoy the game from the start:
«If Starfield didn’t connect with you right away, if you bounced off it quickly or found parts of it boring, I don’t think this update is going to fundamentally change that perception».
