Capcom has unveiled an incredibly atmospheric live action trailer for the upcoming horror game Resident Evil Requiem.
The Japanese developer released a short film focusing on a young woman and her daughter whose lives are turned upside down when they find themselves in Raccoon City on the day the zombie virus outbreak begins. One moment the city is calm and familiar, and the next it is overrun by terrifying monsters, while the few survivors left struggle fiercely for the remaining resources.
As every Resident Evil fan knows, the US government eventually chose a drastic solution and wiped Raccoon City off the map with a nuclear strike. Resident Evil Requiem takes place 30 years after this disaster, amid the ruins of the destroyed city.
The story of Requiem centers on FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and fan favorite character Leon Kennedy, an agent of an organization fighting bioterrorism. Gameplay segments featuring Grace are reminiscent of Resident Evil 7 and focus on classic survival horror mechanics. She has limited combat skills, tires quickly, and cannot withstand many attacks, which forces her to rely on stealth and avoidance, though she can still fight back when absolutely necessary.
Leon’s sections lean much more toward action and stylistically resemble Resident Evil IV, where he previously played a leading role. As a seasoned and highly trained operative, Leon can handle even the most dangerous creatures with confidence. To make the experience more intense, Requiem introduces a greater variety of brutal finishing moves that depend on the weapon used. The DSO agent can employ a wide range of tools against mutants, including a chainsaw and a hatchet.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
