New information about Assassin’s Creed Hexe continues to surface online, with the upcoming title already being described as one of the darkest entries in the franchise.
Shortly after well-known insider j0nathan claimed that the main character Anika is a descendant of Claudia Auditore, Ezio’s sister, he also shared the first screenshot from the game.
The image shows Anika wearing a recognizable Assassin outfit while standing on a tree branch, hinting at an updated tree climbing mechanic. According to j0nathan, players will also be able to use alternative outfits, including costumes inspired by witch aesthetics.
The insider noted that the original screenshot was extremely dark and had to be enhanced with AI tools, meaning the final artistic presentation may differ from what players will eventually see in the finished game.
Additional story details have also appeared online. A character named Wolfgang will reportedly play an important role in the narrative. He is described as a “morally ambiguous and controversial” Assassin who acts as the “bad cop” for Anika, while Ezio, who is also rumored to appear in Hexe, will serve as the “good cop.” Player choices may determine whose guidance Anika follows more closely, potentially affecting the game’s ending.
The main setting of Assassin’s Creed Hexe will reportedly be Würzburg, alongside several other locations. The developers are said to focus heavily on dark forests, rituals, stealth mechanics, and witch hunts. Throughout the story, Anika herself will be hunted after being accused of witchcraft.

The game is currently expected to launch no earlier than 2027.
