The developers of PAYDAY 2 are determined to meet long standing community expectations that have been building up for years. The game will receive a major engine upgrade called Diesel 3.0. Key changes include performance improvements, a major reduction in game size from 86 GB to 32 GB, and a move to 64 bit architecture. In addition, the engine is being upgraded from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11. Visual improvements should not be expected as the focus is mainly on reducing the load on the graphics card. An open beta for testing these changes will be available on Steam on June 30.
A launch trailer was also released to mark the announcement and can be watched on the official YouTube channel of the game or in the related X post.
