CD PROJEKT RED has officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, with the updated version of the acclaimed RPG scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026. The studio also unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming paid expansion Songs of the Past, which is planned for release in 2027.
During gamescom Opening Night Live, the developers showcased a wide range of improvements coming to The Witcher 3. Remastered will be offered as a free upgrade to existing owners on qualifying platforms and will introduce visual, performance, and gameplay enhancements.
The updated version will feature improved combat, enhanced traversal and movement, new witcher sign effects, revamped horse handling, improved monster behavior, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode, new finishers, and many other upgrades.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For the first time, the game will also receive a native version for Nintendo Switch 2, with pre orders already available.
CD PROJEKT RED also provided the first look at Songs of the Past. The expansion will introduce a completely new region called Letten. The picturesque land is built around rural traditions and folklore, with its people enjoying plentiful harvests and lavish festivals. However, a sinister secret lies beneath this peaceful surface.
Geralt will have to face never before seen enemies and confront an evil that has remained dormant for a very long time.
Songs of the Past will be released as a paid expansion in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Players can already add the expansion to their wishlists on select platforms.
As an additional surprise, all existing owners of The Witcher 3 can now access its two original expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, at no extra cost. Players who have not experienced the acclaimed DLC will therefore have the opportunity to play them before Remastered arrives in September.
CD PROJEKT RED has also announced a new partnership with Blizzard Entertainment. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Songs of the Past will be available through Battle.net on September 29. Anyone who purchases the expansion through Blizzard’s platform will receive a special Geralt inspired skin for Diablo 4. More details about the bonus will be revealed when CD PROJEKT RED attends BlizzCon in September.
Songs of the Past is being co developed by CD PROJEKT RED and Fool’s Theory, whose leadership includes veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3. Remastered is being developed together with Yigsoft, a team that also has previous experience working on The Witcher 3.
Gamescom visitors will be able to attend guided presentations of Songs of the Past and Remastered in Hall 8.1. Players who cannot attend the event will also be able to watch special REDstreams on YouTube and Twitch.
