Nightdive Studios is developing a remaster of the cult classic stealth game Thief: The Dark Project, originally released in 1998. The project is being rebuilt on the studio's KEX Engine, while the remastered version will also include additional content from the expanded Thief Gold edition.
The studio has now officially revealed The Tarnished Mirror, a new addition featuring three completely new missions. The project was previously discovered through a Steam achievement leak. A more detailed presentation of the new content is scheduled for November 2.
The remaster will preserve the original game's distinctive style while introducing modern improvements, including gamepad support, achievements, visual enhancements, 4K resolution and 120 FPS support.
Players can also expect several quality of life features, including an item and weapon wheel, mission replay functionality, and support for custom campaigns. The latter will allow fans to create their own levels and share them with other players.
The new missions will go beyond simply restoring cut or existing content. According to the developers, they will "deepen the plot and add five new types of enemies."
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered The Tarnished Mirror is scheduled to launch this winter on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
