China’s League of Legends league, the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), has announced a lifetime ban for naiyou, the jungler of Top Esports (TES). The decision follows confirmed evidence of the player’s involvement in organizing match-fixing.
The ban takes effect immediately. The player is prohibited from participating in any capacity in professional and semi-professional tournaments worldwide organized by Riot Games, Tencent, and TJ Sports. In addition, all of his official awards and titles have been revoked.
The LPL’s special commission also reviewed the actions of the club. While Top Esports actively cooperated with the investigation and provided substantial evidence, the league highlighted “serious shortcomings in daily player management” and the organization’s failure to detect the violations in a timely manner.
Reminder: Letitia James, who previously filed a lawsuit against Valve Corporation, is now under investigation herself.
