The developers of VALORANT have unveiled Patch 12.08, focusing on expanding gameplay variety and rotating the map pool. The main highlights of the update are the launch of the limited-time Skirmish: Ascension mode and the long-awaited return of one of the game’s classic maps.
- Ascension is the next step in the evolution of Skirmish. It is a fast-paced, skill-focused mode designed for solo players or duos.
- Formats: Separate ranked leaderboards will be available for 1v1 and 2v2 matches.
- Gameplay: Players will have access to a limited pool of agents, each equipped with only one ability. Matches will take place in rounds with progressive weapon loadouts.
Rewards: As players climb the ladder, they will be able to earn unique player cards and titles.
In the map rotation, Bind has been removed, while the fan-favorite Ascent returns to the active map pool.
As for game balance, Riot Games has decided not to introduce major changes this time. Despite community expectations, there will be no nerfs to Neon or shotguns in this patch. The current meta will remain unchanged until the next major update.
For cosmetic enthusiasts, the Kuronami 2.0 bundle will appear in the in-game store — a direct continuation of the popular 2024 skin line, featuring new weapon skins. The collection is scheduled for release on April 29.
The start of Premier V26A3 has also been announced, beginning on May 6.
As a reminder, the National Chornobyl Museum recently introduced a new exhibition dedicated to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
