The football simulator EA Sports FC 26 will receive a special World Cup-themed mode titled The World’s Game. The free update is scheduled to launch on June 4, 2026.
Due to Electronic Arts not holding official licensing rights for the tournament itself, the mode will not be a fully authentic recreation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, the developers promise an experience that closely captures the atmosphere and structure of the real-life competition.
Information about the mode surfaced through a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, which focused on the June lineup for PlayStation Plus and the Days of Play promotion.
The The World’s Game update will include:
- 48 officially licensed national teams, increasing the number of available countries by 19 compared to the current roster of 29 national squads in the game.
- New authentic stadiums designed to improve realism and match atmosphere.
- Real-time international challenges for Manager Live Challenges mode.
- Updates to Player Career mode, including new international ICONs and Heroes.
As a reminder, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth recently became the largest game announced for Nintendo Switch 2.
