Professional Counter-Strike betting analyst Miko Punto, who has been specializing in CS betting markets for more than six years, has raised concerns over potential signs of match-fixing in the XSE Pro League match between Chinese team Lynn Vision and Ukrainian side B8.
Punto stressed that he cannot confirm any wrongdoing with certainty, but described the behavior of the betting market before the match as "extremely suspicious." He emphasized that his assessment is based solely on betting market movements and odds fluctuations rather than on gameplay or in-game decisions.
Among the key market anomalies highlighted by Punto were the following:
- Just before the match, the maximum betting limit reportedly dropped from around €8,000 to €2,000. According to Punto, this is often an indication that a bookmaker is attempting to restrict large wagers due to suspicious betting activity on one side of the market.
- The bookmakers' theoretical payout decreased from 95% to 91%. Punto noted that this combination of lower betting limits and reduced payout margins is highly unusual.
- Despite the worsening market conditions, the odds for Lynn Vision became increasingly favorable. He said this suggests an unusually large volume of money had been placed on B8 to win.
- According to surveys conducted among experienced bettors, Lynn Vision's actual win probability was estimated at 60–67%, yet the betting market continued to move in the opposite direction.
Punto also pointed out that this was not the first suspicious betting pattern involving Lynn Vision. He claimed that similar market behavior had previously been observed before the Chinese team's recent matches against TYLOO and PV. Lynn Vision lost all of those matches without winning a single map.
In conclusion, Punto reiterated that these indicators do not constitute definitive proof of match-fixing. However, he argued that the repeated appearance of unusual betting market signals surrounding the same team forms a pattern that is difficult to ignore.
