The highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in November 2026 has forced many game publishers to adjust their plans. Most companies are moving their releases to September or even delaying them until 2027 to avoid direct competition with Rockstar Games’ potential industry record-breaker. However, one project has decided to take on the challenge.
During the IGN Live presentation on June 6, the Barbie Rewind collection was announced. The biggest surprise was its release date: the compilation will launch on November 12, 2026 — exactly one week before GTA 6, which is scheduled for release on November 19.
The collection is aimed at retro gaming enthusiasts and includes:
- 16 Barbie games released between 1991 and 2007;
- Classic titles from the Super NES and Sega Genesis platforms;
- One game that has never been released before.
This bold positioning in the release calendar quickly made the news go viral on social media. Despite the drastic difference in target audiences, gamers have jokingly begun comparing the two projects.
As a reminder, 11 Bit Studios has announced the major expansion Last Variable for The Alters.
