Square Enix has officially confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4. The port will deliver the same core MMORPG experience available on other platforms, making the game accessible to an even larger audience.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will be able to enjoy the full version of Final Fantasy 14, offering hundreds of hours of content. However, there are a few important details to keep in mind ahead of the release.
The Switch 2 version is expected to run at lower performance compared to more powerful platforms, and it will require 117.2 GB of storage space. While the large install size may be difficult for some players, many fans are likely to consider it a worthwhile tradeoff.
Another key point is the subscription model. Existing players will be able to continue their adventures on a portable system, but the Nintendo Switch 2 version will require a separate subscription to play. That decision has already disappointed part of the community.
On the bright side, Final Fantasy 14 on Nintendo Switch 2 does not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Whether the additional subscription requirement will affect the game's commercial performance on the platform remains to be seen.
