Insider ShiinaBR shared new details on April 1 via X about the latest Fortnite update. According to him, encrypted patch files confirm the first wave of a collaboration with the Toy Story franchise by Pixar.
The first additions will include Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg skins, alongside the Little Green Men appearing as Sidekicks, cosmetic companions during matches. As ShiinaBR stated on X, the skins will debut through a special tournament:
«BUZZ LIGHTYEAR and ZURG are skins for the Showdown Cup: Buzz vs Zurg», — he wrote.
The Showdown Cup acts as early access, after which the skins are released in the item shop. Eventually, both will be available for separate purchase using V-Bucks.
The three-eyed Little Green Men are confirmed as Sidekicks, a cosmetic category introduced last year for characters that do not fit full skin formats. They accompany players directly during matches.
Initial rumors about the collaboration surfaced on March 8 when FNBRIntel shared an image featuring Woody, Buzz, and Zurg. On March 18, ShiinaBR retweeted details from SamLeakss with the caption «TOY STORY COLLAB DROPS IN EARLY SEASON 2». At the time, a Pizza Planet car and one or two Sidekicks were also mentioned, though the vehicle remains unconfirmed in the latest leak.
The skins are not part of the Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass and will be released exclusively in the shop. Each is expected to cost around 1,500 V-Bucks. A full-scale crossover with a toy-sized map transformation is considered unlikely by analysts, though not entirely ruled out.
The collaboration fits into a broader context, as Disney has invested billions into Epic Games to develop a large-scale joint project, the details of which are still undisclosed. The timing also aligns with the upcoming Toy Story 5 premiere on June 19, 2026.
The Toy Story collaboration continues the expansion of Disney’s presence in Fortnite following its $1.5 billion investment in February 2024, which has already brought characters from The Incredibles, iconic Disney villains, Avatar, and major Star Wars events into the game.
As a Reminder, Eidos Montreal has canceled the game Wildlands, which had been in development for over 7 years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
