Warner Bros. is preparing the first feature film set in the Game of Thrones universe. According to Variety, Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest will hit theaters on June 6, 2029.
The movie will focus on Aegon I Targaryen, the founder of the dynasty and the ruler who conquered Westeros, earning the title of the Conqueror. The character has never appeared on screen because he lived centuries before the events of the main saga. However, Aegon has been mentioned multiple times in HBO shows and George R.R. Martin’s books as one of Westeros’ most powerful rulers.
No cast members have been announced yet. Owen Harris, who worked on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will direct the movie. The screenplay will be written by Beau Willimon, the showrunner of House of Cards and a writer on Andor.
