Insider: Xbox testing a “build-your-own” Game Pass subscription

Xbox is reportedly planning a major overhaul of Game Pass that would allow players to customize their own subscription. This was reported by Jez Corden from Windows Central.

The proposed system would make Game Pass more flexible by letting users choose specific features and content bundles instead of sticking to fixed tiers. Players could potentially remove elements they don’t use to lower the monthly cost—for example, excluding Xbox Cloud Gaming or swapping perks like Fortnite Crew for other add-ons.

The system may also expand beyond current Game Pass benefits. According to the report, users could add subscriptions to services like World of Warcraft, Minecraft Realms, or even external platforms such as Netflix as optional extras.

If implemented, this approach would mark a significant shift toward a more modular, user-driven subscription model in gaming.
