Paramount Skydance has announced the creation of a new internal game development division, Paramount Games Studio. The initiative is part of a broader restructuring effort led over the past year by David Ellison.
The new structure is intended to consolidate the company’s gaming assets and elevate the gaming division into a core pillar of Paramount’s overall content strategy, alongside film, television, and streaming platforms.
The new unit will bring together Skydance’s existing game development studios — Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media — while integrating Paramount’s intellectual property portfolio. Until now, Paramount’s involvement in gaming has largely been limited to licensing its franchises to external developers.
According to Variety, both current projects from Skydance New Media remain in active development. These include the highly anticipated Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and an unannounced Star Wars title being developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm.
In addition, Paramount Games Studio is expected to officially unveil its first original AAA project during Summer Game Fest at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Tony Driscoll has been appointed as president of Paramount Games Studio. He currently serves as head of corporate strategy and development and will retain his existing role while overseeing the integration process related to the ongoing Warner Bros. Discovery agreement.
