Today at 19:00 EEST, the playoff stage officially began at the FC Pro 26 World Championship. The championship itself, which is the third world championship under the EA Sports FC banner and part of the Esports World Cup, started back on July 22 and gathered the strongest players competing for a prize pool of $1,045,000 USD.
The S-Tier competition is being held in an offline format at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition center. It is worth noting that this year, the organizers from EA changed the location of the entire Esports World Cup 2026, moving it to France from the previously planned Riyadh.
To reach the playoffs, the participants went through an intense group stage, where 36 esports athletes played 6 matches each in a standard 1v1 mode on PlayStation 5. Based on the group results, the top eight advanced directly to the Round of 16, while the players who placed 9th to 24th have just started their battle in the knockout round play-offs.
The decisive stage of the championship will last through July 25 and 26. All matches will be played in a strict single-elimination bracket, which will determine the ultimate winner of the EA SPORTS FC 26 tournament.
