On Friday afternoon, June 19, a private light aircraft crashed in the French commune of La Baule. The accident claimed the lives of two people, one of whom was identified as Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the renowned gaming company Ubisoft.
According to the local fire department, the aircraft crashed into a field. By the time emergency responders arrived, the plane was engulfed in flames, which had already begun spreading to the surrounding vegetation.
La Baule Mayor Franck Louvrier stated that the aircraft involved was a Cessna 421, an eight-seat twin-engine propeller plane that had departed from Rennes and belonged to Guillemot himself. The businessman was traveling to La Baule to attend an aviation event expected to bring together more than a hundred aircraft over the weekend.
Claude Guillemot founded Ubisoft together with his four brothers. According to available information, the second victim of the crash was a flight instructor from Rennes who was on board with the entrepreneur.
