The US-based store Chronos Games & Gifts has announced a temporary one-week suspension of its local Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments. The decision was made following repeated complaints from visitors about poor personal hygiene among some participants, as well as improper use of the venue’s restrooms.
The store’s administration addressed players via its Discord server, stating that hygiene-related issues had already resulted in several negative reviews. Despite Chronos Games & Gifts maintaining a strong overall rating of 4.6 on Google Reviews, one visitor in June explicitly complained about an unpleasant odor. The management apologized for the incident and urged the community to strictly follow official rules set by publisher Konami.
It is worth noting that Konami’s official tournament regulations for Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG explicitly address personal hygiene. The rules include the following requirements and sanctions:
- Every participant is expected to be clean when attending events;
- Players who neglect personal hygiene to the extent that it negatively affects the tournament or other participants may face penalties. Organizers are also allowed to require the player to resolve the issue in order to continue participating.
Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is a fast-paced tabletop strategy game where duelists compete using custom decks of monster, spell, and trap cards.
As previously reported, ESL announced IEM Brazil 2027.
