A 91-year-old gamer from China has become an internet star after completing Resident Evil Requiem without using any modern tips, guides, or walkthrough videos.
Yang Binlin, known online by the nickname “Grandpa Gamer,” caught the community’s attention through videos where he calmly and confidently overcomes challenges in Resident Evil Requiem.
However, what impressed viewers the most was the way the 91-year-old tracks his progress in the game. Instead of searching for information online, Yang carefully writes everything down by hand. He draws map layouts, puzzle solutions, and other key details in a notebook, treating each stage of the game like an engineering task that must be solved independently.
Sharing his impressions of the cult series, Yang noted that Resident Evil taught him an important lesson:
“No matter how difficult things are, if someone is beside you, you can overcome anything.”
It is worth noting that this is far from the first game completed by Yang Binlin. He is officially listed in the Guinness World Records as the oldest video game streamer in the world. Before picking up a gamepad, he worked in scientific research and engineering, specializing in oil and gas wells. He retired in 1996 — that was when he discovered the world of consoles and became a devoted fan of Resident Evil.
