Strong gusts sweep across Topside as the Hurricane weather effect arrives in ARC Raiders with the Shrouded Sky update. This storm shakes up the normal flow of raids and makes the field more even between seasoned Raiders and newcomers, since the hazards beyond the storm are unpredictable. Whether you encounter aggressive Raiders or the newly introduced ARCs amid the chaos, careful preparation is essential. Here are survival strategies and the locations of rare First Wave Raider Caches to help you secure valuable rewards.

Protect Your Shield from Hurricane Damage

The main challenge during the Hurricane event is the fierce winds, which carry debris and flying objects. These collisions can cause your shield to spark, revealing your position to other players while gradually wearing down its durability and HP.

To prevent your shield from taking damage, consider removing it when navigating open areas. This sacrifices some protection but allows for quieter, more tactical movement and reduces the need to constantly recharge your shield after taking cover.

This also means open-air PvP fights will take longer since players won’t have shields up. Once inside, make sure to re-equip your shield quickly to regain protection.

You can swap shields quickly by double-clicking them in your inventory on PC, or by selecting them and pressing "X" on Xbox and "Square" on PlayStation. This avoids the slower method of dragging the shield in and out of the slot manually.

For loadouts in Hurricane mode, a mix of close-range and mid-range weapons works best. Since shields are often removed, most fights will occur indoors, increasing the frequency of close-quarters combat.

Use the Wind to Your Advantage

The Hurricane’s wind can either hinder or help your movement. Pay attention to its direction, as running with the wind speeds you up while moving against it slows you down. This effect also influences jumping, sliding, and dodge rolls.

Plan your route according to wind flow to cover more distance faster and reach far-off objectives efficiently.

Hurricane also doubles loot quality, meaning even less frequented spots can yield valuable items. Sometimes sticking to nearby locations is smarter than braving the full force of the storm for distant areas.

Don’t Overlook First Wave Raider Caches

First Wave Raider Caches are a new addition in the Hurricane event, offering superior loot compared to standard caches. They are scattered across the maps and emit a distinct digital beep rather than the usual ticking sounds of regular caches.

Although the storm makes them hard to hear, finding these caches can be rewarding, with a chance to obtain some of the most prized blueprints in ARC Raiders, including the Tempest.

GameRant’s interactive maps show all First Wave Raider Cache locations. Since these caches appear in the same spots as normal Raider Caches, you can track high-value loot efficiently during the Hurricane event.
