In 2022, Ubisoft announced Assassin's Creed Hexe, a project set in the medieval Holy Roman Empire during the witch hunt era.

Since then, the studio has remained silent, but in 2024 insider Tom Henderson claimed the game would feature heavy fantasy elements and a protagonist named Elsa with supernatural abilities. This direction made the project feel similar to the franchise’s mythological trilogy and raised concerns among some fans.

According to insider j0nathan, the vision has now changed. New franchise lead and game director Jean Guesdon has reportedly decided to remove all fantasy elements and push the game toward a more realistic tone.

This aligns with earlier rumors suggesting Hexe could become the darkest entry in the series, as a stronger focus on realism may enhance emotional impact and immersion.

For now, players can only wait for official details. They may arrive soon, as Hexe is expected to be the next major release following Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, scheduled for July 9.

As a Reminder, Official Baldur’s Gate 3 prequel novel about Astarion announced.
