The fantasy RPG Avowed has officially launched on PlayStation 5, nearly a year after its original release. The debut on Sony’s console is accompanied by a major Anniversary Update, also available for Xbox Series and PC players.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed first launched in February 2025 on Xbox Series X S and PC under Xbox Game Studios. Its expansion to PS5 reflects Microsoft’s broader multiplatform approach, aimed at extending the reach of selected first party titles.
The PS5 version includes all previous updates, while the free Anniversary Update introduces the headline features. These include a fully fledged New Game+ mode that carries over progression, gear, and abilities, three new playable species in the character creator, a dedicated Photo Mode, additional weapons, improved difficulty options, and various performance and interface refinements.
Although Avowed received positive feedback at launch, it faced strong competition during a packed 2025 release window. The PlayStation 5 launch offers the RPG a renewed opportunity to connect with a wider console audience and strengthen its position in the genre during its second year on the market.
