Game director Koshi Nakanishi thanked players for the warm reception of Resident Evil Requiem and revealed plans for the game’s future support. At the end of his message he confirmed that Capcom has already started working on a story expansion.
«We are planning to make extra story content. In this story we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope that you’ll look forward to it», — Nakanishi said in a video message.
Alongside the story DLC, the studio is preparing free updates for the base game. These include a photo mode and another surprise expected around May. Developers also plan to add a new minigame, although its details remain undisclosed.
«We’re planning to add a minigame», — Nakanishi noted without explaining what it will be.
Previous entries in the franchise received similar post launch content. For example, Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 both added the fan favorite Mercenaries mode shortly after release. A comparable feature could appear in Requiem as well.
Before revealing the DLC plans, Nakanishi also showed several humorous slides hinting at possible ideas. One slide titled «Forbidden Requiem» jokingly suggested that Leon S. Kennedy might appear on the dating show The Bachelor. Other slides showed a card game inspired by Inscryption, a Candy Crush style puzzle game and even cat themed versions of Leon and Grace.
The video also briefly featured concept art from the game. One image showed Leon together with a mysterious woman. Since early March fans have been speculating about the character’s possible wife, as Leon can be seen wearing a wedding ring in Requiem. The upcoming DLC may finally explain that detail.
Resident Evil Requiem is currently available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
