In an interview, the esports athlete analyzed the current meta, refuted rumors regarding the team's jungler's emotional state, and shared how he coped with the most difficult stages of his career.
Caps admitted that the series against SK was intense. The opponents adapted well to the current meta, which requires active map movements and constant team fighting, leaving G2 players at a disadvantage several times. Despite this, the team managed to secure the win, giving them more breathing room to prepare for the upcoming week. Winther particularly noted his satisfaction in playing against his former teammates, Wunder and Mikyx, emphasizing that this time, the victory left them no room for bragging.
Commenting on community discussions regarding alleged "tilt" issues with the team's newcomer, SkewMond, Caps defended his teammate. According to him, frustration after unsuccessful moments is natural, but SkewMond knows how to quickly reset and focus on the next micro-moments. Experience playing in top-tier and international series allows the jungler to feel confident in stressful situations, even if it sometimes looks different on camera.
Comparing the legendary 2019 G2 roster with the current one, Caps highlighted fundamental changes in the macro game. Previously, the concept was that junglers worked for the laners' success. Today, teams play around the jungler, providing them with the maximum amount of resources on the map. Winther admitted that in 2019, the team often got too carried away with unconventional picks (such as Pyke or Mordekaiser in the ADC position), whereas today the overall level of macro understanding among professional players has grown significantly, and the game has become more systematic.
The esports calendar remains incredibly packed. Caps recalled that the 2019 season was exhausting due to long regular splits and additional tournaments (All-Stars, Rift Rivals). Although the regular season has been somewhat optimized now, the transition between MSI, the EWC, and other events makes 2026 no less difficult. G2's main task for the coming weeks is to restore their energy before the start of the playoffs and preparation for the World Championship.
Winther spoke candidly about losing his confidence following the Worlds defeats in Season 10 and a difficult 2021. Changing his mindset helped him overcome the crisis: shifting from a strict focus on results to embracing defeats as an essential tool for learning and adapting to new patches. Speaking about his legacy, Caps noted that the greatest honor for him is the ability to inspire a new generation of fans and players, just as Faker, Froggen, Uzi, Bjergsen, and xPeke once inspired him to watch Season 3 of Worlds.
