One week has passed since the early access launch of Slay the Spire 2, the sequel to the hardcore card roguelike released in 2019 by Mega Crit. The game debuted on the same day as the ambitious extraction shooter Marathon from the creators of Halo and Destiny, but it quickly outperformed it in both sales and player attention. The peak concurrent player count of Slay the Spire 2 in Steam nearly reached 600,000 users, while Bungie’s expensive project managed only 88,000.

However, these results are only the beginning, as the developers have shared additional impressive statistics.
In a post on the Steam blog, Mega Crit revealed that sales of the early access version of Slay the Spire 2 have already surpassed 3 million copies. During the first seven days players started around 25 million runs. The studio noted that this number is incomplete because the counter only began tracking from the moment the game launched.

The developers also outlined their plans for future updates. In the near future they intend to introduce alternative progression paths for the second and third acts, expand the variety of cards, add new events, and generally increase the amount of content available in the game.
Streamers will also benefit from upcoming features. The team plans to implement Twitch integration that will allow viewers to influence gameplay through voting. Similar mechanics have proven successful in other titles and often make livestreams more interactive and entertaining.
In addition, the developers have opened access to the Slay the Spire 2 beta on Steam, allowing players to test upcoming features before they are officially added to the game.
