The studio CI Games continues active development of Lords of the Fallen 2, which is expected to launch closer to the end of the year. The game was last shown to the public during The Game Awards 2025, where a new gameplay trailer was unveiled.
Previously, studio head Marek Tymiński stated that the fantasy action game would not cater to «politically correct» trends and would, among other things, feature female characters in revealing armor. In the latest developer diary, however, game director James Law shifted the focus elsewhere. According to him, the combat system will be noticeably more aggressive, faster paced and harsher than before.

A detailed breakdown of the revamped combat was released as part of the Lifting the Veil series on the studio’s official YouTube channel. The nearly 42 minute video showcases the changes and explains how the team took player feedback from the previous entry into account while introducing brand new mechanics for the sequel.
The discussion features James Law alongside lead systems designer Daniel Regan, producer Alex Harkin and creative strategist Ryan Hill. They emphasized that elements praised in the 2023 release are being preserved, such as dual wielding, a focus on mobility and combat flow, while the range of animations has been significantly expanded to add more variety to encounters.
The updates go beyond visuals. The studio is aiming for a seamless blend of melee combat and magic and is introducing new weapon types, allowing players to experiment with different fighting styles.
Overall, the developers speak openly about learning from past mistakes and pushing the series to a new level. Based on the materials shown so far, CI Games appears confident in matching and surpassing the success of the previous game.

As a reminder, Solid Snake joins Rainbow Six Siege X.
