A new update for Crimson Desert launched on March 28 across PC and consoles, marking the fifth post-release patch. Version 1.01.00 introduces new mounts, performance optimizations, and addresses one of the key criticisms from early players.
March 29 marked ten days since the highly successful launch of the game by Pearl Abyss. During that time, the title has already received five updates, some of them quite substantial in terms of content.

Key Highlights of Update 1.01.00:
The 1.01.00 patch delivers faster loading times, five new mounts, and various improvements. Players can now unlock and summon White Bear, Silver Fang, Snowwhite Deer, Rock Tusk Warthog, and Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex. Loading times during revivals and fast travel have also been reduced.

Control improvements are another major focus. Movement for both the player character and mounts has been redesigned so speed increases either by holding or tapping the run button. The previous system that reduced speed without continuous input has been removed. Full sprinting still requires periodic input, but overall controls now feel smoother.

Controls had been widely criticized as clunky, inconsistent, and overly complex. While this update does not fully resolve those concerns, it represents a meaningful step toward better consistency. Flight has also been improved with smoother transitions, reduced stamina consumption, and removal of brief stopping before gliding.
The update also emphasizes quality-of-life changes. New material chests have been added across Pywel, along with the Refinement Token item that allows gear upgrades up to Stage 4 without extra materials. Interface improvements include a Make Now crafting option and bulk storage functionality.

Additional enhancements cover UI, graphics, and stability. The minimap and notification systems have been improved, and numerous crashes and performance issues have been fixed across all platforms. A new Fixed 4K Output option has been introduced for PlayStation 5, forcing 4K rendering for a sharper image even on non-4K displays.
The update also changes how crimes affect the Contribution stat. Actions will no longer reduce it unless witnessed by an NPC. Although labeled as a bug fix, it is categorized under content changes, suggesting the previous behavior may have been intentional.
The patch is already available on Steam for PC and Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox, while Epic Games Store and Mac App Store versions are still pending.
