Creative director Daniel Vávra is effectively stepping back from daily game development to focus on creating a film or TV adaptation of the Kingdom Come universe. This was announced by Warhorse Studios CEO Martin Frývaldský.

According to him, the format of the upcoming adaptation has not yet been decided, but work on the project has already begun. Vávra is not leaving the studio, but he is not involved in any new game projects.

«Dan has a new role. That’s the creation of the Kingdom Come movie», — Frývaldský said. ВHe emphasized that this does not mean a split from the studio. «No, on the contrary, Dan himself wanted to move on. He made three games that were global successes, and he has been wanting to try something different for a long time».

The studio head also confirmed that a draft script is already ready and negotiations with production companies are ongoing. «Bringing Kingdom Come to the screen in the next few years is another milestone we want to achieve, and that is Dan’s new role. You won’t see him in the office every day anymore, but in a broader sense, he is still part of Warhorse».

Frývaldský added that fans can expect a strong story:

«Anyone who has played Kingdom Come or even Mafia will recognize Dan’s signature style and can expect a compelling story again. In fact, Dan Vávra’s new position could be called transmedia director».

The studio’s latest game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, was both a commercial and critical success, selling five million copies in its first year and receiving nominations from The Game Awards, DICE, and BAFTA. The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance sold eight million copies and allowed the studio to expand significantly.

As a Reminder, Steam has launched Next Fest February 2026 with free demos.
