On the night of January 23, Valve released the major Old Gods, New Blood update for Deadlock. The patch adds a new game mode, six heroes, changes to bases, and introduces a number of other adjustments.

Following the update’s release, the game saw a sharp increase in online activity. The number of concurrent players rose by +132.1%, reaching 67,668.

Deadlock’s peak concurrent player count was 171,490, which occurred after the start of limited testing in August 2024. After that, online numbers declined and hovered around 15–20 thousand players. A sharp increase in players typically happens after the release of a major update, as seen today (January 23) and previously in August 2025.

As a reminder, the development cost of The Witcher 4 could reach $800 million.
