According to Alinea Analytics, Death Stranding 2 has reached a major commercial milestone following its PC launch. The game has now sold over 2 million copies worldwide, with total revenue surpassing $150 million.

After launching on Steam on March 19, the title from Kojima Productions gained significant momentum. More than 425,000 copies were sold on Steam during the first week, adding to roughly 1.6 million units sold on PlayStation 5.

As a result, the Steam version already accounts for about 21 percent of total sales. In revenue terms, the game generated over $110 million on PS5 and $32.6 million on Steam, pushing the combined total beyond $150 million.

Analysts note that the PC release not only expanded the audience but also reignited interest on consoles. During the Steam launch window, PS5 sales surged dramatically, peaking at more than 12,000 copies per day, more than double previous discount-driven spikes. This effect is largely attributed to renewed attention around the game. Technical breakdowns and fresh reviews from media outlets and creators brought the title back into the spotlight, effectively turning the PC port into a powerful re-marketing tool.

On Steam, the game has received strong reception, with around 96 percent positive reviews. It has been especially successful in China, which accounts for nearly half of the PC player base.

Players praise the game’s optimization and stable performance even on mid-range hardware. However, some users report technical issues, including save system problems and occasional crashes during cutscenes.

Alinea Analytics highlights that the case of Death Stranding 2 proves the importance of PC as both an audience expansion channel and a way to boost lifecycle sales on the original platform. A similar effect was previously observed with Stellar Blade.
