Revelations serves as a direct continuation of the main story in DOOM: The Dark Ages. After the events of the base campaign, the Slayer is sent into a realm of purgatory, where an unexpected ally appears. To escape, players must hunt down and defeat a monstrous abomination controlling its followers.
The expansion also introduces new demon types, additional puzzles and more lore for players who have completed the main campaign.
One of the biggest additions is the Chain Spear, a new weapon designed to combine powerful attacks with improved mobility.
