Steven Allison, Vice President and General Manager of the Epic Games Store (EGS), admitted in an interview with Eurogamer that the current state of the store’s software is far from ideal. He stated bluntly: “The launcher is bad. Let’s call it what it is.”
According to Allison, the main issue is poor performance and slow speed. Work on fixing the situation began at the end of last year. He described the process as “ripping out the guts and replacing them with new ones.” A significant performance boost is expected as early as May or June 2026.
Epic Games is also planning a major overhaul of the social features. Allison hopes that after the summer update, users will be pleasantly surprised to find that the launcher has finally become fast and user-friendly.
As a reminder, the Esports World Cup has unveiled the global qualification program “Road to EWC.”
