Notorious Studios has announced that their ambitious fantasy extraction action game Eldegarde will be shutting down. This comes just two months after the game left Early Access in January 2026.

The game’s servers will be permanently shut down on March 31, 2026, after which it will disappear from the Steam store forever.

Despite its “huge potential” and positive feedback regarding its visual style, the game failed to attract enough players to maintain financial stability. Studio founder Chris Kaleiki, a Blizzard veteran, said that the developers searched for ways to move forward until the very end, but the project ultimately proved to be “not viable.”

The possibility of an offline version is being considered, but the developers are making no promises, calling it an “unrealistic dream” at the moment.

Players who purchased Eldegarde within the last two weeks before the announcement are eligible for a full refund. Sales of the game to new users have already been stopped.

As a reminder, Team Vitality is leaving StarCraft II after two years in the discipline.
