The Fable reboot from Playground Games has reportedly been internally pushed back. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, Microsoft is concerned about launching the game too close to Grand Theft Auto VI, which is currently planned for November.
Fable was previously given an Autumn 2026 release window, which may have been intentionally broad to allow flexibility depending on GTA 6’s schedule.

«Apparently, they’re still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. So if it’s getting delayed beyond the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027», — said Jeff Grubb.
He also clarified that an internal delay doesn’t necessarily mean the game will release in 2027, but the possibility remains. For now, Fable is still one of Xbox titles with some uncertainty around its launch timing.
With Grand Theft Auto VI expected to dominate player attention upon release, many studios are reportedly cautious about setting firm launch dates.
Meanwhile, the official Fable account continues to reiterate the previously announced Autumn 2026 release window.
