Electronic Arts, the developer of EA Sports FC, has announced that the FC Pro World Championship winner's trophy will be renamed in honor of Diogo Jota. The announcement was made through the franchise's official social media channels.

The decision was made to commemorate Diogo's passion for EA Sports FC. The company also stated that Jota's family supported the initiative.

FC Pro World Championship 2026 will take place from July 22–26 as part of Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, France. The tournament will feature a $1 million prize pool.

Diogo Jota was a devoted fan of the EA Sports FC series (formerly FIFA). At one point, he even reached the No. 1 spot in the global Weekend League rankings. In the summer of 2025, the footballer tragically died in a car accident. Following his passing, Electronic Arts and the game's community introduced several tributes and in-game commemorative initiatives in his honor.

Earlier, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang × Street Fighter 6 collaboration launched on July 3.
