Fortnite continues to expand its list of experiences with the upcoming Arenas Boxfights mode arriving on April 9, offering an official take on one of the most popular Creative formats. Originally, Save the World was meant to be the core experience, but player interest quickly shifted toward Battle Royale. As a result, Epic Games focused heavily on that mode, building a narrative, seasonal Battle Pass content, and a constantly evolving island.

Over time, the developers introduced limited-time modes with themed quests and rewards, eventually evolving into full-fledged experiences like Fortnite Festival, Rocket Racing, and LEGO Fortnite. However, not all of them maintained strong player engagement, which is why some modes are set to be vaulted soon.
A New Mode Steps In
Despite the upcoming removal of Rocket Racing, Ballistic, and the Fortnite Festival Battle Stage, players will have something new to jump into. According to the official announcement, Arenas Boxfights launches on April 9 and features 1v1 and 2v2 matches within a 16-player, multi-round format. The first player or team to reach 15 round wins is declared the winner.
Boxfights have long been a staple of the Creative community, offering intense close-range combat scenarios that test building and combat skills. Similar experiences have appeared before, such as the Close Quarters mode, which restricted players to short-range weapons and encouraged face-to-face fights.

Rewards and Features
The Arenas Boxfights mode will include rotating weapons and items, a ranked system, and specially designed maps. To encourage players to try it out, Epic Games will offer free cosmetic rewards through dedicated quests. Players can unlock items like the Builder’s Crest back bling and the Cracked Blueprint spray by completing challenges and winning matches.
The next major update is scheduled for April 16, when several existing modes will be removed. Fortunately, players won’t have to wait that long to experience Arenas Boxfights, which is expected to go live on April 9 around 9 AM ET, although the exact release time has not been officially confirmed.
