How to Obtain Salt in Hytale

Salt plays an important role in Hytale’s cooking system, as it is required for preparing certain food items. Players can produce Salt by refining Salt Blocks at a Chef’s Stove. That said, acquiring Salt Blocks is not as straightforward as mining common resources. Unlike most blocks, they do not naturally spawn in the overworld and can only be obtained through a specific gameplay mechanic.

This guide explains how to obtain Salt Blocks in Hytale and how to turn them into Salt using a Chef’s Stove

How to Find Salt Blocks in Hytale

The most effective way to acquire Salt Blocks in Hytale is by using fishing traps. These traps are crafted at a Farmer’s Workbench and can be placed over any body of water, including rivers, lakes, and ponds. Once deployed, they collect items automatically over time.

Although fishing traps are primarily designed to catch fish, they can also pull in various types of floating debris. This includes sea shells, sticks, linen scraps, Essence of Water, and occasionally Salt Blocks.

The chance of obtaining Salt Blocks from a fishing trap is entirely random. Because of this, players are advised to set up multiple traps at once to improve their overall odds.

Fishing traps can also be filled with Fish Bait, which is crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench. Bait shortens the activation time of traps and increases the chances of catching rare fish. However, when specifically farming Salt Blocks, bait is not recommended, as it raises the likelihood of catching fish instead of miscellaneous items.

How to Turn Salt Blocks Into Salt in Hytale

Once Salt Blocks are obtained, they can be refined into Salt using a Chef’s Stove. To do this, open the Ingredients section of the stove, choose Salt, and begin crafting. Each Salt Block produces five units of Salt.

Where to Purchase Salt in Hytale

As an alternative option, players can buy Salt from the trader NPC located in the Forgotten Temple. Salt is sold in exchange for Essence of Life, but the trader only carries a limited supply of ten units at a time. The inventory refreshes once every three days.

As a reminder, Valve faces UK lawsuit over high Steam commissions and prices.
