How to Unlock the Lifepod in Subnautica 2 and Avoid an Early Death

One of the first objectives in Subnautica 2 tasks players with getting their lifepod back to the ocean surface. To do that, you must disconnect the restraints still attaching the pod to a wrecked section of the station. While the goal sounds simple, the game gives very little direction about where the clamps are located or how to safely remove them before your oxygen runs out.

To free the pod, leave through the main hatch and swim toward the rear side of the structure. Hidden there are two release mechanisms marked with glowing orange-red lights. Interact with both of them using A on Xbox controllers or X on PlayStation.

After activating the releases, the restraints will disengage and their lights will switch from orange to blue. A small panel on the pod will also open, confirming the process worked. From there, head back inside immediately and use the onboard terminal to send the lifepod rising toward the surface.

This section can be stressful because your character has very little oxygen and moves slowly underwater during the opening moments of the game. Spending too much time outside the pod can easily lead to drowning before you make it back inside.

Once back inside, talk to the floating AI companion and confirm that the restraints have been released. Doing so finishes the objective and allows the real exploration phase of Subnautica 2 to begin.

As a Reminder, New Non Stop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Limited Edition flavor may arrive soon.
