In 2026, legendary game developer id Software will mark its 35th anniversary. The studio has already begun preparations for the celebration and shared a stylish piece of anniversary artwork featuring the Doom Slayer.
The creators of iconic franchises such as DOOM, Wolfenstein and Quake announced the start of the celebrations on social media. The message came from key studio figures Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton. Martin has served as DOOM’s Game Director since 2018, while Stratton is the Executive Producer of DOOM Eternal.
In their statement, they expressed gratitude to the team, fans and partners:
«It’s amazing to be able to celebrate this honour with our team. We’ve got a lot coming up this week to celebrate with all of you. Throughout the year we will be celebrating this anniversary, and a lot of other anniversaries. We couldn’t do it without you guys, we feel like we have the best fans in the world. It’s really an honour to make this content for you all, and we’ve got much more in store, so stay tuned. Of course, thank you also to everybody we have collaborated with, all the support we get from Xbox and Microsoft Gaming, Zenimax, and of course everybody that’s come before, everybody who has worked and walked the halls at id – it’s a visionary studio. Thank you to the original founders, we always say we stand on the shoulders of giants; true visionaries who set this studio in motion, and everybody that has contributed their talent and vision to the studio over the years. We couldn’t do it without you and we hope you are celebrating along with us. They are big shoes to fill – we try our best to fill them. Again, thank you so much for all your support, it’s an honour to make this game for you all.».
id Software hinted at more announcements and celebrations planned throughout the year, inviting fans to stay tuned as the studio looks ahead to its next chapter.
