Krafton has released the first developer diary dedicated to Project Windless. The project is a large scale action RPG set in the universe of the Korean fantasy series «The Bird That Drinks Tears».
Development is handled by a dedicated studio based in Montreal. The team aims to create an RPG where players do not simply follow a predefined path but shape their own legend while becoming deeply immersed in a distinctive world.

The story takes place roughly fifteen hundred years before the events of the novels, serving as a prequel. The developers promise a fresh take on familiar fantasy conventions, with strong emphasis on cultural identity, internal conflicts between peoples, and unconventional characters. They also stress that they are deliberately steering clear of overused genre tropes.
Visually and thematically, the game world draws inspiration from East Asian motifs while also incorporating elements of Western aesthetics, including more surreal environments.

At the center of the narrative stands Rekon, a warrior from a birdlike race. He is destined to lay the foundations of the Aradjit kingdom, which later becomes an important part of the books. Much of the game’s content will be optional, allowing players to chart their own course, form alliances, or explore the world at a relaxed pace, with a strong focus on player freedom.
The combat system is designed around scale and intensity. Battles can feature hundreds or even thousands of enemies on screen at once, highlighting Rekon’s speed and power while still demanding quick reflexes and careful attention from the player.
A release date has not yet been announced, but the developers confirm that the game has been in production for nearly five years.
As a Reminder, Riot Games has released the patch notes for VALORANT 12.03.
