Polish publisher CI Games has confirmed that it ended its partnership agreement with Epic Games regarding Lords of the Fallen II. Under the original 2024 contract, the PC version of the upcoming souls-like RPG was planned as an Epic Games Store exclusive.
In recent months, CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski hinted that the title could eventually arrive on Steam under certain circumstances, and now the reason behind those comments has become clear.
According to information shared with investors, the agreement with Epic Games was terminated back in mid-April. The company explained that the decision was not disclosed earlier because it could have harmed the legitimate interests of CI Games.
At the moment, the PC store page for Lords of the Fallen II is still only available on EGS, but the end of the exclusivity agreement means the studio is no longer restricted from launching the game on other storefronts. Because of this, a Steam release now appears highly likely.
Despite the split, CI Games continues to cooperate with Epic Games in other areas, including the use of Unreal Engine 5 and related technologies.
The release date for Lords of the Fallen II remains unknown for now, though the developers are expected to reveal more details during one of the upcoming summer showcases. The game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
