Helldivers 2 has received a major update titled Machinery of Oppression. To mark the release, the developers unveiled a new trailer showcasing the key additions, including reinforced cyborg units and the grim planet Cyberstan. The battle for this world is expected to become the largest event in the game’s history.
At the heart of the update is the mission to break the alliance between the cyborgs and the automatons and prevent the creation of a superweapon called the «World Star», capable of threatening the entire population of Super Earth. Players must work together and systematically clear the cities of Cyberstan until enemy forces are completely eliminated. Each fallen Helldiver reduces the shared troop reserve. If the counter reaches zero, the enemy claims victory.
Key objectives include halting the production of new cyborgs and weakening Cyberstan’s defenses. This requires destroying factories and symbols of the regime to destabilize the enemy system. The campaign will not be easy, as the cyborg army has been reinforced with three new highly dangerous enemy types.
«Agitators», clad in heavy armor, coordinate automaton forces and issue tactical commands directly on the battlefield. «Radicals» have almost entirely lost their human appearance and rely on swift close combat assaults. In addition, a combat vehicle patrols the streets of Cyberstan, spreading propaganda while attacking with rockets and laser systems.
Alongside the launch of Machinery of Oppression, the in game store has also been updated with a new gear set, including the War Horses armor.
